The DISP, managed by the Defence Industry Security Office (DISO), supports Australian businesses to understand and meet their security obligations when engaging in Defence projects, contracts and tenders. It gives Defence security advice and support services access, helps better understand and manage security risks across businesses, and provides confidence and assurance to Defence and other government entities (Australian or foreign) when procuring goods and services from industry members.

Defence supply chain risk management is increasingly requiring DISP membership for contractors. Still, most DISP applications fail due to a lack of coverage and evidence of compliance, thereby extending your time and effort to get certified. In addition, the Defence environment, processes and language are a further barrier, especially to newcomers.
